Talk Ten Tuesdays
EXCLUSIVE: Dissecting the 2021 OPPS Proposed Rule
Show Notes

It’s out and it’s already creating controversy: the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) proposed rule, which becomes effective January 2021. The rule, issued Aug. 4, would eliminate the Medicare inpatient-only list of services while increasing the number of Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC)-eligible procedures. The rule would also increase 340B payment cuts, and it looks to overhaul the hospital star-rating system.

It’s an interesting time for such changes, amid the impact of COVID-19. Dissecting the OPPS proposed rule during the next edition of Talk Ten Tuesdays will be Susan Gatehouse, founder and CEO of Axea Solutions.

The live broadcast will also feature these other segments:

  • CDI Report: Senior healthcare consultant Glenn Krauss, founder and creator of Core-CDI.com, files the CDI report, in which he’s expected to discuss what he calls the stagnation of clinical documentation integrity (CDI) as a result of visionary leadership being replaced by task leaders.

  • News Desk: Timothy Powell, compliance expert and ICD10monitor national correspondent anchor the Talk Ten Tuesdays News Desk.

  • The Coding Report: Laurie Johnson reports on a the upcoming coordination and maintenance meeting in September.

  • TalkBack: Erica Remer, MD, founder and president of Erica Remer, MD, Inc. and Talk Ten Tuesdays co-host, will report on another thought-provoking topic that has captured her attention.
