Two years ago this week, the World Health Organization (WHO) described COVID-19 as a pandemic — about the same time a cruise ship was held at sea off the California coast, with 3,500 people on board ultimately testing positive for the coronavirus.
Today, masks are required. Social distancing is practiced. Countries close and open their borders, schools and public facilities shutter and open, and the embers of burnout explode as the Ides of March arrive.
